Lovely bodies
The dynamic duo loved Lake Lipno so much they went there again today. This time they parked just outside Frymburk, a pretty little town which, like Horní Planá, is directly on the lake, and they hopped on the bikes there. The cycling paths are superb – wide and perfectly smooth. My little bird brain finally came to the conclusion that they are such good quality in order to accommodate the hordes of in-line skaters. Ice hockey and ice skating are huge in the Czech Republic, so of course the Czechs naturally keep up the skating in summer too.
It’s not the Atlantic or even the Adriatic, but I must say that Lake Lipno is starting to grow on me. It’s so nice to be beside a large body of water again. And I must say it is a lovely body.
Talking about lovely bodies, I came across some lovely girls along the way…
To add to the excitement, I got to try out yet another mode of transport today when we took the ferry across the lake. Shiver me timbers!
His Lordship didn’t find any wild raspberries today, but before we set off homeward from the lake, he decided to pop into the forest across the road to see what he could find. His haul after just ten minutes was a handful of blueberries, some chanterelles and two nice cêpes. Wild mushroom omelette for dinner. Yummy!
One thing I discovered today that endears me further to this landlocked but lovely country: the Czech for hello is ahoj, pronounced ‘Ahoy!’.
Ahoy there landlubbers!
